One Heart, Three Mascots. 🎨🦉🪶

A playful experiment, a friend's three simple words and the gentle discovery that God had kept safe what I'd quietly set down along the road

📖"Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy."
— Psalm 126:5 (NKJV)

It started as a bit of fun. I'd seen friends asking AI to give their personality a mascot, so I uploaded a photo, typed out the prompt and waited to see who would appear beside my cartoon self.

I expected one little character. Instead, three arrived.

🎨 HeARTsie came first, a royal purple elephant with paint dripping from her trunk, a golden crown tilted on her head and a white feather resting over her heart. Big heart. Brighter colours. She's the artist in me, the one with paint under her fingernails and glitter on her sneakers, who believes colour can carry hope into places words can't reach.

🦉 FeatherJoy🦉💖 followed, a bright-eyed owl in a maroon scarf with a golden heart-shaped key hanging from her neck. Brings hope, colour and joy to broken hearts. She carries the heartbeat of Healing 💔heARTs💖, and that little key says it all. I don't open the doors to healing; Jesus does. I simply get to walk alongside those brave enough to knock.

🪶 Feathers arrived last, a soft, giggling owl hugging a well-worn book with a heart on its cover. Big encouragement in a small package! She's the everyday me, the wife, the mum, the friend who shows up in ordinary moments with a hug and a word of hope.

I laughed, shared them and asked my friends to vote for their favourite. I had no idea one of those little owls was about to hand me something I'd lost.

Three Words Beneath a Post

🕯️ Earlier that day, I'd introduced FeatherJoy🦉💖 in a comment on a friend's Facebook post. His reply was immediate and beautifully simple:

"Patrizia Schwartz bringer of joy!!"

He didn't offer a long tribute. He simply named what he saw. Three words and two exclamation marks, yet they landed like a key turning in a lock.

✍️ Perhaps they landed so deeply because Trixi means bringer of joy.

He wasn't merely describing something I do. Without necessarily knowing how deeply those words would reach, he was handing my own name back to me, like someone who picks up a feather I hadn't noticed had fallen and places it gently back in my hand.

It reminds me of words I've always loved, commonly attributed to Arne Garborg: "To love a person is to learn the song that is in their heart and to sing it to them when they have forgotten."

🌱 If I'm honest, this wasn't the first time. This friend has been doing a whole lot of reminding this year. He's reminded me of my ability when I doubted it, of my capacity when I felt stretched thin, of the leadership God has placed within me, of my readiness for what lies ahead and of my worth when I'd quietly begun to measure it by how much I could give. Line by line, verse by verse, he's been singing parts of my song back to me all year long.

Somewhere in the fullness of this season, I'd forgotten the words to my own song, and this time he sang the very first line: my name.

I thought AI was creating a mascot to represent what Healing 💔heARTs💖 carries into the world, only to discover she was reflecting something back to me. FeatherJoy🦉💖 and I carry the same assignment.

"I Haven't Called Myself That for a While…"

I wrote back: "True. I haven't called myself that for a while... I best get back to living up to my name. 🤗💞"

🕯️ That little reply holds a tender confession, and one sentence still catches me. When did I stop saying it? 🤔

I'm not sure there was a single moment. There are seasons when carrying responsibility, walking alongside broken hearts, navigating grief and loss, and simply tending to all that life places in our hands can dim the lantern without us even noticing. The flame doesn't go out all at once. It simply burns lower while we're busy lighting the way for everyone else.

Looking at those three mascots side by side, I began to see something else too. How often have I kept the parts of myself in separate rooms?🤔
The artist over here.
The minister over there.
The personal, unguarded me tucked quietly away.

I suspect many of us live like this, wondering which version is the "real" one and which parts are acceptable to God.

The Lord never asked me to choose. He wove the paintbrush, the prayer and the ordinary hug into one life on purpose, and He has room for all of it.

Living From, Not Up To
🪨 Joy was never something God asked me to manufacture. It was never a performance I had to maintain to remain worthy of the name Trixi.

So I'd gently rewrite my own words. Rather than "I best get back to living up to my name," perhaps:

I want to get back to living from my name.
There's a difference. Living up to it can sound like striving: be joyful, bring joy, try harder, keep smiling. Living from it begins somewhere entirely different, with receiving, returning to the Source and letting the Lord refill what's been poured out.

Jesus spoke of this very order:
📖 "These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full." — John 15:11 (NKJV)

His joy first, remaining in me. Only then is mine made full.

🕊️ Then, giving it away. One smile. One conversation. One painting. One word of encouragement. One broken heart. Perhaps even one ridiculously adorable owl. 🦉😂💖

Joy Golden Through the Seams
🌱 FeatherJoy🦉💖 has become more than a mascot. She's a tiny, colourful reminder that joy carried by someone who knows what tears feel like is its own kind of hope.

✍️ I think of kintsugi, the art of mending broken pottery with gold. The cracks aren't hidden; they become the very places where the light catches. Perhaps that's what joy looks like in a life the Lord has restored. It doesn't erase the breaking. It runs golden through the seams.

Psalm 126 is a song of return, God's people coming home so overwhelmed by His restoration that their mouths were filled with laughter again. Even then, the psalmist doesn't pretend the weeping never happened. He simply declares that tears sown in God's hands are never wasted.

Bringer of joy, then, doesn't mean bringer of relentless cheerfulness. It means joy grown in soil once watered by tears, a harvest the Lord Himself brings in.

📖 "He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler." — Psalm 91:4 (NKJV)

Three mascots, one heart, and every feather, even the ones I'd let fall, tucked safely beneath His wings.

My story for His glory, changing the world🌏 one 💔heart💖 at a time. — Patrizia

💡 Reflection
  • Is there a name, gift or part of who God made you that you've quietly stopped speaking over your life? 🤔
  • Who has recently reflected something true about you back to you, and how did it land in your heart? 🤔
  • Where might you be living up to something in your own strength rather than living from what God has already given you? 🤔

Closing thought

🕊️ Beloved, if you've set something down along the road, a name, a gift or a spark of who God created you to be, please hear this gently: He hasn't forgotten it. He's kept it safe. 🙏 I'm so grateful for the friends the Lord places along our path, the ones who remember our song when we've lost the tune and patiently sing it back to us, line by line, until we can sing it again ourselves. If you have someone like that, thank God for them today, and perhaps let them know. If you're longing for someone like that, ask Him. He's the Author of every song, and He knows exactly who to send. Perhaps you could be that friend for someone else this week, too. There's still light in the lantern. There's still gold running through the seams. Perhaps there's even a little feather lying along the road, waiting for you to pick it up again. 🪶💖
