Watered by the Shore
When the hands that pour out are gently filled again by grace

π"The generous soul will be made rich, And he who waters will also be watered himself."
π―οΈ It's late, and the house has finally settled into that deep, holy hush of night. I'm in bed, yet my heart is still warm from yesterday, so warm that I couldn't lay my head down without writing it here first.
Katharina treated me to a delicious lunch, followed by some lovely beach therapy, the kind only salt air and an open sky can offer. She told me it was her way of saying thank you for walking alongside her through our Healing πheARTsπ encounter groups and prayer ministry.
βοΈ I'll be honest with you, dear friend: I didn't quite know where to put that kindness. Most days I'm the one pouring the tea, holding the space, sitting with the tears and waiting on Holy Spirit in the quiet. Giving is the language my heart speaks most fluently. Receiving is a language I'm still learning, slowly, word by word. There's a small, tender place in me that wanted to wave it away and say, "Oh, it was nothing." It wasn't nothing β not to her, and not to the Lord.
πͺ¨ Here's the truth I'm resting on tonight: none of it was ever mine to begin with. Every prayer, every encounter, every moment of sitting beside a heart in pieces belonged to Him. Christ is the Healer; I'm simply the cracked clay vessel He chose to pour through. Freely I have received, so freely I give, and yesterday He reminded me that He also loves to give freely back.
ποΈ Lately I've been writing about open hands, about laying down what I carry and coming to God with nothing in them. I've been discovering that empty hands are still open hands. Now, almost before the ink has dried on those pages, He's showing me the other side of the same lesson: open hands are also able to receive.
I watered a heart through prayer and presence, through Healing πheARTsπ, through simply walking alongside. Then Katharina turned around and, in her own beautiful way, said, "Now let me water you."
Lunch.
A gift.
A beach.
Time.
Gratitude.
Friendship.
Joy.
Nothing grand or complicated. Just love returning to the shore.
π―οΈ We stood together on the sand, the sea stretched out before us like soft grey-blue silk, so still it barely whispered against the shore. Rangitoto rose quietly on the horizon, steady and unhurried. It was an ordinary, partly cloudy Auckland day, yet every now and then the light broke through and turned the water to gold, while the wet sand held the sky like a mirror. Somehow that made it all the more beautiful. Joy doesn't wait for a perfect sky. It arrives on ordinary days too, and when it does, His light finds its way through.
ποΈ I found myself gazing at that island for a long while. It was born of fire, yet now it rests on the water clothed in green. Only later, looking at our photographs, did I notice it: fire and water in the same picture. Something formed through fire now sits peacefully surrounded by water, while two women whose stories have known their own fires stand on the shore laughing.
I thought of every broken place Katharina and I have carried to the Cross together, and how the Father never discards what has been through the fire. He clothes it. Like kintsugi, He traces gold through every crack until the seams become the most beautiful part of the story. I've had the holy privilege of watching Him trace that gold, line by gentle line, and yesterday I saw it shining in the light.
π± Looking at our photos now, what moves me most is the joy. Two women grinning from ear to ear, laugh lines and all. Real, unguarded, healed-heart joy on her face, and, I'll admit it, on mine too. My name means bringer of joy, and yesterday joy was brought to me. It landed as softly as a feather on still water.
π "And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart." β Galatians 6:9 (NKJV)
βοΈ There have been seasons when I've wondered whether the seeds were taking root at all, whether the tears sown in prayer rooms would ever become a harvest. Yesterday the waves kept rolling in, washing over the sand and leaving it shining, and I sensed the Lord whisper that this is what being watered feels like. The one who waters is watered too. The places that have passed through fire can still be watered.
ποΈ I'm learning that receiving well is its own kind of surrender. When I let someone bless me, I'm letting God love me through them. Tonight I lay down the need to always be the giver, and I simply say thank You: to Katharina for her beautiful heart, and to my Father, who sees every hidden cup poured out and never forgets a single one.
π± Thank You, Lord, that You've called us to journey together through life and healing, and that I no longer need to walk alone.
My story for His glory, changing the worldπ one πheartπ at a time. β Patrizia
So tonight, dear one, if you're the one who always pours, rest for a moment. Let the tide come in. The same God who sees you giving sees you weary, and He has His own beautiful ways of filling you again: a meal, a friend's smile, a quiet shore on an ordinary day. Perhaps that's yesterday's quiet gift to carry into sleep: the woman who brings joy is allowed to have joy brought to her too. π
- Where in your life do you find it easier to give than to receive, and what might that be protecting?π€
- When someone has thanked you recently, how did your heart respond: did you open your hands or quickly close them?π€
- What seeds have you sown in tears that you're still waiting to see bloom?π€
- Which places in your story have passed through fire, and where might God be wanting to water them now?π€
- What would it look like to let His joy land softly in you today, even on an ordinary, cloudy day?π€
I am a beloved daughter, held in the shadow of His wings. What I pour out in love is never lost; it's watered, multiplied and returned in God's perfect timing. My hands are open to give and open to receive. What passed through fire is now held by living water, my cracks are traced with gold by the Master's hand, and joy belongs to me, because I belong to Him.
Father, thank You for the gift of yesterday, for light breaking through the clouds, for the gentle sea and for the beautiful heart of Katharina. Thank You for every story of healing You've allowed me to witness, and for reminding me that every one of them is Yours. Lord, where I've held my hands closed to Your kindness, gently open them. Teach me to receive as freely as I give. Where I've grown weary, refresh me with living water. Where life has passed through fire, let Your water reach those places and bring forth green again. Where I've doubted the harvest, let me see Your faithfulness shining like gold in the seams. Holy Spirit, keep me soft and surrendered, a vessel You can fill and pour through again and again. Let joy rise in me and flow through me to every broken heart You bring to my door. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
